ComTest is a serial communication utility that allows you to test the connection between your computer and whatever serial-ready device you want to hook up to. Comtest allows you to send a string from a list, and shows the response. The list is loaded from the text file COMTEST.TXT. Simply modify this file to change what you want to transmit. COMTEST supports 300-9600 baud on COM1 through COM4. Typical applications for COMTEST would be to test a serial link between a PC and a mainframe computer, or a specialized piece of equipment. Using the COMTEST.TXT file, test signals can be sent through the serial port and responses appear in another window. Borland C++ TurboVision source code is included in the package.
Note: This program appears not to completely release the serial ports upon exit, so you may need to reboot your system to get serial peripherals to work properly again.
